The MA in Applied Theology (and the parallel Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate in Theology) is a taught programme with three study pathways. These equip students for missions, pastoral ministry, and strategic leadership, and act as an exceptional platform for further research in any of the pathways and may provide for continuing professional development.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Students on any BCC postgraduate taught programme take classes for each module consisting of around 300 dedicated study hours \u2013 a blend of lectures, seminars, preparatory reading, study, researching and writing of course work.<\/p>\n

The full MA programme comprises of six taught course modules and a short research dissertation. The Postgraduate Diploma programme consists of six taught course modules without a dissertation. The Postgraduate Certificate programme consists of three taught course modules.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On campus and intensives.<\/p>

On campus delivery is a traditional timetable where classes are delivered several days each week and is available for full or part-time study. For international students requiring a visa to study in the UK only full-time study is available for this delivery method.<\/p>

For intensive delivery students come to the campus for classes several times each year, normally 1-2 weeks each time. Assessments and further study are undertaken from home with occasional online sessions. Intensive delivery is only available for part-time study.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Recognition of Prior Learning<\/strong><\/p>

Accredited RPL\/RPeL and in some cases where the RPL\/ RPeL is certificated will be considered for students wishing to transfer into the scheme with previously obtained part or intermediate qualifications from other UK HE institutions or their equivalent. This will follow the rules and processes for RPL\/RPeL set out by Birmingham Newman University, which allows for 90 credits of RPL for Master\u2019s degrees.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Module Format<\/b><\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Modules at BCC are delivered either as weekly classes throughout term time, over a block period, usually week-long, known as \u2018residential\u2019 study sessions or as a combination of both face-to-face and online lectures.<\/p>

The schedule for the classes is published several weeks before the term commences, so students would know and do the core reading on the module ahead of time. There are two intakes yearly in January and September.<\/p>

The residential sessions are held over six days of full-time in-class study usually from Monday to Saturday. The class schedule will be published several months before class begins, to allow students to complete both the core and the weekly readings before classes begin. Residential sessions are usually scheduled in October and February.<\/p>

For the residential sessions, students would travel to the beautiful leafy Selly Oak campus in Birmingham to be residents on campus over the period of these sessions, and BCC offers accommodation students may rent.<\/p>

To ensure students have a good learning experience, we limit class numbers, so it is always recommended to pick your modules early, however, note that all optional modules on the programme are subject to student numbers or intake. Whilst BCC will make every effort to offer the modules listed, changes may sometimes arise due to student numbers, student choices and staff availability. Students should be aware that not all optional modules will be offered every semester, due to staffing, timetabling, and\/or insufficient student numbers. Where an optional module does not run or there are insufficient numbers for the module to run, BCC will endeavour to inform students promptly.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Following successful completion of\u00a0any of the pathways of\u00a0the programme, graduates should be able to analytically address a range of current questions in their chosen\u00a0fields.\u00a0They\u00a0should be able to apply an advanced, systematic, and critical understanding of issues, and interpret a range of sources using a variety of tools, and methodological approaches.\u00a0Students will know and understand how specific laws and acts that govern Christian ministry activities can be\u00a0leveraged\u00a0for growth and effectiveness. Graduates should be able to apply strategic leadership principles in leading intergenerational and multicultural churches and Christian organisations.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

English Language requirements (Methods of assessments)<\/strong><\/p>

All students must provide evidence of appropriate competency in written and spoken English. For students whose first language is not English, and who have not studied in English up to at least Level 3, the normal requirement will be IELTS 6.5 for MA and 6.0 for BA, TOEFL 575 or equivalent. It is our duty as Higher Education Providers to ensure that international students whose English is not their first language demonstrate their level B2 English language competence by providing a recent secure English language test (SELT) from one of the UKVI approved test providers. You must have achieved at least CEFR level B2 in all four components (unless a test provider exempts you from sitting a component because of a disability).<\/p>

Tuition fees<\/strong><\/p>

The tuition fee for international students for the 2026\u20132027 academic year is \u00a313,400<\/strong>. This will increase to \u00a313,800<\/strong> for the 2027\u20132028 academic year.<\/p>

International students Discount\/Bursary\/Scholarship package<\/strong><\/p>

We are pleased to offer the International Students Bursary to new international students starting their undergraduate or postgraduate studies at Birmingham Christian College.<\/p>

To support our international students who do not have the right to work in the UK under our current UKVI probationary sponsorship licence status, we are pleased to offer all international students a bursary of \u00a34,000 per year<\/strong>. This provides a net fee of \u00a39,400<\/strong> for the academic year.<\/p>

To qualify, you must choose Birmingham Christian College as your firm<\/em> or insurance<\/em> choice before 5:00 pm (UK time)<\/strong> on 30 June<\/strong> for a September start or 30 November<\/strong> for a January start. The scholarship will be awarded automatically\u2014no scholarship application is required in the first or any subsequent years.<\/p>

International students must pay the fees and deposit amounts stated within their offer letter.<\/p>
